Full Form of FIR

Full Form of FIR is First Information Report. First Information Report is a written document prepared by police when they receive information of a cognisable offence by the victim or by someone on his on her behalf. FIR is registered in the nearest police station where the crime has taken place. The information should be entered in the FIR register which is maintained at police station. FIR should be signed by the informer and a copy should be given to the informer.
